Is MD5 secure?
No — MD5 is broken for security purposes (collisions are easy to produce) but is still widely used for basic file-integrity checksums, which is why it's included here.
Does my file get uploaded to check its hash?
No. The file is read and hashed entirely in your browser tab; it's never transmitted anywhere.
